Introduction to Kindergarten

Thursday, September 28, 2017

I am happy to be teaching the Junior and Senior Kindergarten program this year in room 3! We have many fun and innovative learning initiatives planned throughout the 2017/2018 school year.I would like to refer you to the FDK Course link that will enable you to keep up-to-date with all the on goings in the classroom, as this website will not be the main parent/teacher communication platform:

I subscribe to the philosophy that technology is a critical learning tool for 21st century learners and can act as a catalyst for those who may be reluctant to learn using traditional means, such as pencil to paper and memorization tasks. Let's begin our year with an open mind and see where the path to knowledge leads us.

The Four Frames of the Kindergarten Program

Four Frames

Thursday, September 28, 2017

In the kindergarten program, four “frames” are used to structure thinking about learning an assessment. The frames - Belonging and Contributing, Self-Regulation and Well-Being, demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics behaviours, Problem Solving and Innovating - are designed to support an approach that aligns with the way children’s learning naturally occurs that focuses on aspects of learning that are critical to young children’s development. The frames reflect the integrated way which learning occurs during children’s play and inquiry in Kindergarten.
