Writing
Monday, January 8th, 2018

We have begun to look at narrative writing. We will look at the characteristics that make up a narrative, how it is organized, and how to use descriptive language to grab the readers' attention and make the stories more interesting.
We have also looked at figurative language (simile, metaphor, alliteration, hyperbole, etc.) and the students have tried to apply some of them to enhance their writing. We will continue to draft narratives and will now work on how to effectively use quotation marks.

Word Study
Monday, January 8th, 2018

Students have explored nouns, verbs, and adjectives as a way to edit their work and make their writing more effective to the reader.

As we write narratives, we will examine the use of adverbs as well and figurative language (similes, alliteration, etc.).
